Utilizing digital manipulation, I pull past imagery to stimulate an overwhelming layering of past selves. With photomontage and color halftones, I distort past and current images of myself to reflect the influence of our culture on social expression. The deformation of visual information mimics the pixels of digital media to initiate a discussion on the facade of individual identity. I draw influences from the work of Hito Steyerl and her idea of existing in an oversaturated world. Thus, Digital Manipulation performs as a self-reflection on my place, engagement, and influences within our culture.
